Shamshabaddy

Even only being here after four days, Shamshabad has a lot to offer for this group. I have this incredible longing to just go explore everything. Unfortunately, we have not gone out as much yet. BUT the good part is there is still six weeks. Hyderabad, the big city that is about an hour away, has so much to offer. Hindus have been gathering around a giant Ganesha as they worship daily as this deity is being placed in front of houses. These deities who get made to be put in front of houses to worship are actually made out of a chalk-like material that dissolves when placed into a body of water. At the end of the month, Hindus take the Ganesha and put it in a nearby body of water. I am still unclear as to why, but it was the first real cross-cultural experience besides the Church that we have seen so far.
